Claudia Lyon

Claudia Lyon is vice president, Talent and Casting, ABC Studios, a position she has held since 2006. In her current role, Lyon oversees casting for all ABC Studios and ABC Signature pilots and prime-time series including “Grey’s Anatomy,” “How to Get Away with Murder,” “black-ish,” “grown-ish,” “Criminal Minds,” and highly anticipated series “High Fidelity” and “Little Fires Everywhere” for Hulu. Prior to her role in this capacity, Lyon oversaw the casting of ABC’s critical darling, “Ugly Betty,” and the multi-Emmy® Award and Golden Globe® Award-winning “Modern Family,” among others.

Lyon is involved in all aspects of ABC Casting’s domestic, global and digital initiatives under ABC Discovers, a series of landmark initiatives that identify, develop and mentor talent from around the world. These initiatives include the annual New York and Los Angeles Talent Showcases, the Digital Talent Competition, Latino/Hispanic Outreach, Asian/Pacific Islander Outreach, Global Talent Outreach and Actor Workshop Week with organizations such as East West Players, CAPE (Coalition of Asian Pacifics in Entertainment), SAMMA (South Asians in Media, Marketing and Entertainment), Nosotros, Casa 101 Theater, LATC (Los Angeles Theatre Center) and HOLA (Hispanic Organization of Latin Actors).

Prior to joining Disney|ABC Television, Lyon was vice president, Casting and Talent at The WB Network where she oversaw the casting of WB prime-time series, including “Dawson’s Creek,” “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” “Felicity,” “Gilmore Girls,” “Smallville,” “One Tree Hill” and “Supernatural.”

The Imagen Foundation honored Lyon as one of their Powerful and Influential Latinos in the Entertainment Industry in 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2018. She has volunteered for Minds Matter, an organization aimed at helping low-income minority students prepare for college success, mentored for the National Association for Multi-Ethnicity in Communications (NAMIC), and serves on the advisory board for the NICA Foundation, an initiative to elevate rural communities in Central America.

Lyon graduated from Binghamton University-State University of New York with a Bachelor of Arts in psychology and cinema.
